I don't know if you're still around or not, but someone has been adding a lot of garbage to the Wiki in the form of bad porn fiction or whatever. So far, I've noticed Iolande and Aga'po's pages affected, with this spam being added to their information. I don't know if there's a way to revert the page to what it was before this stuff was added, but I would appreciate it if you could try to fix it.
User:Calm&Collected has been stalking me all over wikia ever since I had him blocked permanently for multiple accounts of harassment despite repeated warnings and temporary bans. Wikia Central gave me some advice to talk to local Admins.
I'm Mathmagician from the Admin Mentor Program. Back in November, you made a request here for help for this wiki. Are you still interested in working with AMP to improve your wiki and learn more about coding, admin tools and community growth?
I know it's been over 2 months since Brandon approved your request -- I apologize for this ridiculously long time it took for us to get back to you. I've been working with a different wiki for about 5 weeks, and then after that there was a lot of lack of communication between us and staff due to everyone being busy with other things in life.
Anyways, we are trying to work through the requests and help people as we can. Are you still looking for help from AMP?
Surriela and I would love to work together with you. Any other admins of the wiki who wish to participate are also welcome.
I'm more of a technical type of person myself (templates, CSS, etc.), Surriela is a bit more knowledgeable about policies, organization, that kind of thing. So depending on what type of questions you'd like to ask us, between the two of us hopefully we'll be able to help.
Before we start out, I was just wondering a few things:
Where would you like to have the conversation? Is this thread here on your message wall okay? Or would you prefer a different format?
Any other admins you'd like to invite? Feel free to leave messages on their walls to invite them to the conversation.
Any starter topics you have in mind? What question or topic would you like to talk about first?
1. I think message walls tend to get laggy, so would the chatroom be okay?
2. Yes. Godblaster would be the other admin that will be involved.
3. At this moment, no. I think it'd be best if we all sat down and had a discussion. And since GB is away at this moment, I think we should put this on hold until tomorrow. Does that sound like a plan?
Hi there, just chiming in to say that we think your wiki has great potential, and hopefully we can help you make it even better. As Mathmagician said above, see if you can decide on a few specific goals so we have a good starting place.
I am not sure about using a chat room, since my schedule is hit and miss for when I am able to be on. There are some advantages to using this forum. You can refer back to previous posts very easily, and it is transparent to other people who do not happen to be in chat as to what is being worked on. So we can set up a specific page for AMP or use this message wall - or another one.
It really should be on this wiki, so that everyone else can see what you are discussing. You can test items there if you want to try out coding, but the idea is really to involve your community in changes you make. Please consider setting up an AMP page instead and using that.
Hi Godblaster -- you don't have to be online at a particular time. At least for me and Surriela, that's going to be difficult. Feel free to leave messages here though and we can always check them when we're online next.
So, about community growth, it would be helpful for you to come up with some ideas for what you think would be good to work on and how you think it can be accomplished.
Example: Suppose you want to work on getting your wiki a little more exposure.
Are you utilizing your twitter feed most effectively?
Have you used the Help:Promote feature to promote your wiki on Wikia's home page?
You're at 180 pages right now, did you know it only takes 200 pages to request a spotlight for your wiki? If you were to create 20 more pages (presumably from the list at Special:WantedPages), that would work towards getting you a spotlight.
Again, this is just an example. I would encourage you to think of some more specifics like this. And then if there's something you want to try but aren't sure how to do, we can try to help you make it work.
Hmmmmmm, interesting. This is all new to us, so forgive us if we have some troubles. Can you maybe instead of community growth, you could help us learn how to communicate with our users. A good wiki needs good admins, right?
Oh second though, no. I am revoking my request for AMP. It just doesn't fit for me at this time. I'm sorry. Though, I thanks to both of you for coming here and giving whatever advice you could. Once again, sorry, but thank you. :)
